Houston merchants will kick off the holiday season Friday and Saturday with holiday open houses.

The event was announced late last week by the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce, which is coordinating the activities. This year’s theme is “Let Your Light Shine,” using candles and stars, which are available at Houston Dollar Shoppe for $1. The stars will be placed on the Houston Christmas tree Nov. 29.

Many businesses will sponsor open houses. Complete details will be included in next week’s Messenger.
