A motorist attending a recent community event returned to his vehicle to find two tires and wheels missing, police said.

Officers heard a report Nov. 1 from Brian K. Gatzert, 38, of 8579 U.S. 63, who reported both front tires and wheels taken from his white, 1982 GMC pickup after he attended a demolition derby.

The vehicle, which was parked along the main entrance road to the arena, was about three car lengths from the main gate.

Police said the front hub assemblies had rocks under them to hold them off the ground and the lug nuts, which were holding the wheels on the vehicle, were on the ground next to the rocks.

The tires, which were new, were valued at $230. The wheels were old and rusty and had no value, Gatzert said.

In other matters, police:

-Investigated damage Nov. 6 to a vehicle parked at Houston Elementary School by Brenda Morgan of Bucyrus. Deep scratches were found on both doors on the driver’s side of the Chevrolet Impala.

-Charged Matthew S. Wiggs, 34, of 16745 Sunset Dr., with driving while revoked on Nov. 1.

-Cited Devin J. Carter, 21, of 721 Dooley, with allowing his dog to run at-large on Nov. 4.

-Investigated a Nov. 8 accident at Grand Avenue and U.S. 63. Police said a vehicle driven by Bryan A. Ammons, 23, of 9432 Strawberry Road, was pulling forward from the stop sign on southbound Grand Avenue and struck the rear of a truck operated by Kimberly D. Sperlazza, 45, of 8539 Highway E, which had pulled from the stop sign and then stopped for a second look for oncoming traffic before entering the highway.
