A 43-year-old inmate at the South Central Correctional Center at Licking was killed Monday when a van backing up to a loading dock struck him, the Licking Police Department said.
Mark E. Lewis, 43, was pronounced dead at Texas County Memorial Hospital. Another inmate, James H. Bescher, 26, was sitting on the edge of the loading dock and sustained minor injuries, police said.
Lewis was serving a term for child molestation. Bescher was convicted on a first-degree murder charge.
Police said John R. Bell, 63, was driving the 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 van.
