Ronald Kieth Wilson, 62, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 26, 1946, in St. Louis County, son of George and Catherine Stone Wilson.
An avid outdoorsman, he was an award-winning trap shooter and trophy deer hunter. He hunted elk in Colorado and Wyoming and made fishing trips to the Canadian wilderness.
His sense of adventure led him to Las Vegas, where he met various celebrities and stayed in elegant casinos. He also played pool with Minnesota Fats in St. Louis.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a self-employed landscaper who was sought after in the St. Louis area.
Survivors include his mother of Casselwood; a brother, George “Butch” Wilson of Big Springs, Tex.; two sisters, Olivia “Marie” DeWitt of Raymondville and Julia May Whiteaker of Valley Park; and numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends, including Betty Rhodes, Ray and Shelba Browning and Dr. Joseph Bruce.
He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Peter Michael Wilson and Edward Wilson; a sister, Margaret Thompson; and a son, Steven Wilson.
Memorial services were Monday, Oct. 13, at First Baptist Church in Raymondville with brother Frank White officiating. Cremation was under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
