A 19-year-old South Carolina man was seriously injured Wednesday night in a crash on Highway M about two miles southwest of Success, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Tpr. Logan Elliott said Samuel J. Hall was traveling southbound when he engaged the emergency brake, causing the vehicle to overturn and strike a fence. The driver, who was ejected from the vehicle, was not wearing a seat belt, he said.

Hall, of Charleston, S.C., was airlifted to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Roby firefighters assisted at the scene.
