Revenue collected by Texas County retailers took an encouraging tone during the latest monthly distribution released by the Missouri Department of Revenue.
Merchants collect three half-cent sales taxes for the operation of county government, including one for debt repayment on a new county justice center. Each brought in more than $63,000. That’s up nearly $16,000 on each from a year ago.
For the year, more than $783,000 has been collected from each. That’s up about $13,000 for each from a year ago.
The reports are considered a good barometer of economic activity.
