Playing for the fifth time in five days, the Houston JV Tigers ended their busiest stretch of the season with a 53-44 victory Monday night against Alton.

Curry Van Horn scored 15 points and Justin Buchholz went 8-for-10 at the foul line en route to 12 points for the Tigers, who out-scored Alton in each quarter.

The Tigers’ flurry of games began Thursday night with a 42-35 victory in the opening round of the Norwood Tournament. Van Horn paced Houston with 14 points.

On Friday, Houston was back in regular-season action at Plato. Eli Smith and Scheets had 11 points apiece in a 54-41 double-overtime loss to the Eagles.

The next morning, the Tigers were back at Norwood and again paired with Plato. Van Horn and Scheets and 12 points apiece in a 50-40 semifinal loss.

Facing Mansfield later that afternoon in the third-place game, Jake Scheets had a team-high 13 points in the Tigers’ 45-42 loss to Mansfield.
