Lavern M. Hall

Lavern (Flippin) Hall, age 88, daughter of William and Minnie (Reaves) Flippin, was born April 23, 1920, in High Point, Mo. She passed away Dec. 6, 2008, at Texas County Memorial Hospital, Houston, Mo.

Lavern was preceded in death by her parents: her husband, Hensley Hall of Houston: one son, Roger W. Thomas of Jefferson City: three brothers; Minor Flippin, Marvin Flippin, and Marion Flippin; and three sisters, Alta Parks, Alma Kommrau, and Adeline Flippin.

She is survived by two sons: Hensley E. Hall Jr. of Bridgeton, Mo., and Bill Thomas and his wife, Judy, of St. Louis, Mo; one brother, Donald Flippin and his wife, Velma, of Boonville, Mo.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; plus several nieces and nephews.

Lavern was married to Hensley E. Hall in Columbia, Mo., on Aug. 2, 1953. They were married for 42 years until his passing in 1995. They made their home in Bucyrus, Mo., and lived there until she moved to the Houston House Nursing Center for the last several years.

Lavern was a member of the Ozark Baptist Church of Houston. She read her Bible daily and was faithful to her belief in Christ and the life hereafter.

Lavern joined the Rebecca Lodge and held several high offices. She enjoyed the work and the community service.

Lavern loved to be with her children and her family. Family visits were some of her favorite times. She was a housewife most of her life and did some part-time work for the extension division of the University of Missouri. She received her education in Moniteau and Hickory Counties.

Her hobbies included riding horseback, dancing, gardening, sewing, cooking and traveling.

Lavern seemed to always have a smile for everyone and she will be missed until we can once again see that smile in Heaven.

Services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Lawn Cemetery. Services are under direction of Evans Funeral Home.
