Michael Keith Reed, age 55, son of Quoy and Imogene Randolph Reed, was born September 22, 1953 in Moline, Ill. He passed away November 30, 2008, in the University of Missouri Hospital, Columbia, Mo.
Mike grew up in Houston, attending Houston Schools, and graduated High School in 1971. He was baptized October 31, 1965, at Dog’s Bluff. Mike entered the United States Marines on Dec. 7, 1971, and was honorably discharged Nov. 9, 1973.
He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Jamie Reed.
Surviving are two sons, Kevin Reed and wife, Alison, Curtis Hubbs and wife, Gina; a daughter, Destiny Wilson and husband Jeremy (Boomer); his mother, Imogene Reed; a brother, Ron Reed and wife, Justine; six grandchildren, Kaleb and Nathan Poynter, Chandra and Kelly Hubbs, Madison Reed and Fletcher Wilson; and his longtime companion, Daphne McCormick, and her daughter, Ashley, all of Houston, Mo.
Mike loved the outdoors; he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed going to the lake and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He also loved playing in the dirt, looking for Indian artifacts, working on his skid steer, dozer and backhoe. He took pride in building things with his hands, being out in God’s country. He also loved collecting Case knives, something he shared with his brother, Ron.
He was such a giving person, never meeting a stranger, always greeting you with a smile and a twinkle in his eyes. He will be remembered forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today (Thursday) in the Evans Funeral Home, Houston, Mo. Memorials may be made to the Mike Reed Memorial Fund, C/O Evans Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.evansfh.com
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in the Ozark Baptist Church. Rev. Ed Hamilton will officiate with burial in the Pine Lawn Cemetery.Services are under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
