Each missing one starter, the Houston eighth and seventh grade girls’ basketball teams were swept by Liberty Thursday in the Liberty Tournament.

The eighth grade Lady Tigers were defeated 26-21 and the seventh grade lost 18-17. Both teams had beaten Liberty earlier this season.

Alexa Ichord scored eight points and Kenzie Scheets had seven for the eighth grade, which led 14-12 at the half but only managed seven second-half points.

Kaylea Preheim led the seventh grade, which was outscored 9-4 in the fourth quarter as it failed to hang onto its lead, with four points. Sierra Weaver and Taylor Franklin scored three each.

Both teams struggled at the foul line. The eighth grade was 3-for-10 and the seventh grade missed nine of its 14 attempts.
