Robert Kenneth Reed, 86, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 7, 1922, in Licking, son of Frank and Pearl Rodgers Reed. He and Wanda Marr were married Dec. 18, 1944.
Shortly after graduating from Licking High School as a member of the class of 1941, he joined the Army on March 3, 1943, and served in WWII. He spent 17 months in Burma and was honorably discharged April 21, 1946.
He accepted Christ as his savior as a young man. He was an active member at Boone Creek Baptist Church, where he served for more than 50 years.
He stayed busy on a farm, raising horses, tending cattle and harvesting timber. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his coffee shop buddies.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bobby; a brother, Frank Reed; three sisters, Lorena Tweed, Sally Shacklette and Leota Hamilton; and two infant sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years; a daughter, Deloris Krewson; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Clara “Peggy” Johnson of Nevada; and a brother, Oscar Reed of Licking.
Services were Saturday, Dec. 20, at Boone Creek Baptist church with Dr. James Miller officiating. Burial was in Boone Creek Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
