Robert “Gene” York, 72, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 17, 1936, in Texas County, son of George Henry and Susan Elizabeth Bullock York.
He spent most of his life in Texas County with his family and friends. He enjoyed taking his grandsons fishing, family birthday parties and baking homemade cakes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judy; three sisters, Goldie York, Clary Jackson and Willa York; and an infant brother, Willard York.
Survivors include a daughter, Stacy Leedom; three grandchildren; three brothers, Billy Joe York, Dale York and Raymond York; three sisters; Aleta Oglesby, Silvia Atkisson and Gerdine York; and numerous nephews, nieces and great nieces and nephews.
Services were Saturday, Dec. 13, at Fox Funeral Home Chapel with pastor David Jett officiating. Burial was in McMahan Cemetery.
