Kenzie Scheets and Alexa Ichord scored eight points apiece to lead the Houston eighth grade girls’ basketball team to a 36-21 opening-round victory Monday night against Ava at the Mountain Grove Tournament.
The Lady Tigers will face the Mountain Grove seventh grade girls, who upset second-seeded West Plains, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Demi Pittman had five points and 12 rebounds for Houston, which led 8-2 after the opening quarter. Sarah Garrett had 10 rebounds off the bench, and Ichord grabbed nine boards.
