A mother and four children murdered in Oklahoma last week have ties to Texas County.
Summer D. Rust and her children – son, Teagin, 4, and daughters, Kirsten, 7, Autumn, 7, and Evynn, 3 – were apparently strangled to death in El Reno, Okla., by the mother’s boyfriend. He was later arrested near Hamilton, Texas.
Summer Rust is the daughter of Donnie Rust, who is a native of the county and lives in Springfield. His late father, Bobby, was a brother of Madge Elmore of Houston and Wayne Rust of Cabool. The victims are the great nieces and nephews of the county pair.
A conversation held by the suspect sparked his family to check the family’s apartment, where the bodies were found, authorities said. Joshua S. Durcho is charged with five counts of first-degree murder.
Services for the family were Wednesday.
