Virginia Viola Anderson Moritz, 86, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, in Missoula, Mont.

She was born June 27, 1922, near Adel, Iowa, daughter of Thurman G. Anderson and Alice Marie Alumbaugh Anderson. She and Leland Moritz were married Jan. 5, 1946, in Kansas City, Kan. He died April 3, 1996.

Her parents moved to a farm near Summersville when she was a young girl. She attended elementary school at Welsh School and attended Summersville High School. Upon graduating, she moved to Kansas City and worked at Poindexters until her retirement.

She was saved at an early age and was an active member of Fair Haven Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kan., for many years. She moved to Montana with her grandson, Dr. Gregory Houlihan, and his family after her husband died.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; a daughter, Joyce Houlihan; and three sisters, Gerry Ritchie, Alma Hayes and infant Marjory.

Survivors include a grandson and granddaughter; two sisters, Frances Dacy of Kansas City, Kan., and Della McCallister of Houston; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Graveside services are 1 p.m. today (Thursday) at Summersville City Cemetery with Dr. Howell Burkhead officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
