Ervin Arnold Stewart, 79, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
He was born Feb. 4, 1930, in Hartshorn, son of Oscar A. Stewart and Bessie Ellen Day Stewart. He married Joy Michel.
He was 19 when he moved to St. Louis, where he worked as a truck driver, machinist and owned his own taxi service. He enjoyed reading, restoring old cars, doing mechanical work and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, James, Paul, Elmer and Everett; and three sisters, Ethel, Velma and Virgie.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Stewart-Rollins of St. Charles and Pamela Hauk of St. Peters; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Don Stewart of Hartshorn.
Services were Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Steelman officiating. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery.
