Want to save money and eat better by growing your own produce? University of Missouri Extension will offer a two-part “Vegetable Gardening for Beginners” short course Feb. 23 and 24.
The course is at the MSU Fruit Experiment Station in Mountain Grove. Participants will learn how to create and maintain healthy soil, how to use low cost drip irrigation systems and how to anticipate a variety of situations before they become a problem in your vegetable garden.
The course will also cover information about growing heirloom vegetables, seed saving and season extension. Andy Read, University of Missouri Extension horticulture specialist, will teach the course. Sessions are scheduled to start at 6:30 each evening and will run for approximately two hours.
