Oscar Lee Reed, 72, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
He was born Sept. 4, 1936, in Licking, son of William Frank and Pearl Rodgers Reed. He and Sharon Rae Mathis were married Dec. 20, 1961.
He was a local business owner of several service stations, and he also worked for Hutcheson Oil Co. His favorite pastimes were gardening, watching deer, riding his four-wheeler, going to the coffee shop, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and spending time with his family.
He loved babysitting and playing with his grandchildren. He seldom missed a Licking High School baseball or basketball game.
He was preceded in death by parents; three sisters, Lorena Tweed, Leota Hamilton and Sally Shacklette; and two brothers, Frank and Robert Reed.
Survivors include his wife; two children, Steve Reed and Brian Reed of Licking; five grandchildren; and a sister, Peggy Johnson of Henderson, Nev.
Services are 11 a.m today (Thursday) at Boone Creek Baptist Church in Licking with Dr. James Miller officiating. Burial will be in Boone Creek Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
