Reuel “Chub” Christopher Ragain, 95, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at his home in Bucyrus.

He was born Aug. 1, 1913, in Upton, son of James Lewis and Sophronia Adams Ragain. He and Bernice Avis Baker were married Dec. 14, 1941.

He was raised in the Upton community and lived there his entire life, farming and raising his family. He enjoyed playing basketball and football while attending school at Pleasant Ridge, Houston and Mountain Grove.

He was saved and baptized as a young man and attended Hickory Ridge Church, where he enjoyed leading the singing and teaching a Sunday School class until his health no longer permitted.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 51 years; three brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include five children, Lonnie of Gravois Mills, Larrie of Twin Falls, Idaho, Robert of Sunrise Beach, Wanda Moore of Cabool and Bonnie Ragain of the home; a sister, Velma Stottlemyre of Houston; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; two special game playing buddies, Jean and Mildred; and a host of friends and relatives.

Services were Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial was in Hickory Ridge Cemetery.
