A bright spot for Texas County’s economy: Revenue from three sales taxes increased in the latest monthly distribution at a time when statewide collections decreased.

The news was welcomed at the Texas County Administrative Center, where the sales taxes are the prime source of revenue.

Each sales tax generated about $89,450. That’s up about $2,400 on each.

One is used for repayment on bonds associated with the new justice center and others go to county operations and maintenance.

The reports – from the Missouri Department of Revenue – are considered a good barometer of economic activity.
