Leamond Lloyd Fuwell, 73, died Saturday, March 21, 2009, at St. John’s Regional Hospital in Springfield.

He was born July 20, 1935, in Risco, son of Gilbert Roy and Icy Marie Jerls Fuwell. He and Shirley Ann Fuwell were married Aug. 25, 1956. He later married Wyonia Mills.

He was a member of Brown Hill Baptist Church in Houston. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, taking care of his cattle and various projects. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Freeman “Bud” Fuwell; and an infant son, Michael Fuwell.

Survivors include four children, Gary Fuwell and Tracey Weaver of Houston, Karen Evans of Dexter and Renee Powell of Licking; two ex-wives, Shirley Fuwell of Houston and Wyonia Mills of St. Louis; a brother, Bufford Fuwell of Bloomfield; 12 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Services are 2 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at Rainey Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with Pastor Larry Burdine officiating. Visitation 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at Rainey Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery in Essex.
