The Texas County TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More) recently presented a parenting workshop on military deployment and re-integration.
4-H Youth Development State Specialist Mary Jo Williams from the University of Missouri Extension in Columbia and 4-H Youth Development Assistant Waita Karcher from the University of Missouri Extension Center in Pulaski County served as guest speakers. Attendance included Houston Middle School Principal Scott Dill, who participated in an activity using the Jenga game to discuss problems and concerns of children and families who are experiencing deployment and re-integration.
Williams reported there are 399 children in military families living in Texas County. The workshop offered research information of problem areas and ideas of solutions for families, as well as for community members. The program was designed for agencies and organizations who work with children and families.
