Houston police are investigating a burglary at a local business.

Officers were called to Houston Self Storage, 802 S. Sam Houston Blvd., where Daniel J. Hickcox, 48, of 697 Oak Hill Drive, reported that 30 to 35 fishing rods and reels and four tackle boxes had been taken.

The value was estimated at $1,000. Two other locks were also missing after being cut: One unit was empty, and the proprietor is attempting to notify the other owner, police said. The incidents occurred March 20-23.

In other matters, police:

-Charged John D. Wheeler, 39, of Bucyrus, with unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, failed to drive on right half of roadway and DWI on March 28.

-Cited Crystal Hayes, 49, of 705 W. Highway 17, with failure to abate nuisance on March 25 after complaints about the appearance of the property.

-Charged Jason L. Williams, 31, 18324 Cape Lane, with driving while suspended on March 24.

-Arrested Kristin G. Norris, 26, of 250 Forrest St., on a county warrant charging her with two counts of forgery. She posted $7,500 in bond and was released on March 25.

-Charged Stormy D. Morgan, 32, of 712 N. Grand Ave., with stealing under $500 by shoplifting at Houston Wal-Mart on March 24. About $30 in steaks were recovered, police said.

-Cited Dennis Maynard Bucchi Jr., 31, of Bucyrus, with parking in a prohibited area – Bryan Street at school zone on March 24.

-Heard Noveta E. Smith, 1121 W. Highway 17, report on March 24 that a driver’s side window was broken on a mini-van. Police said it appeared that a small projectile had punctured a small hole in the window, causing the glass to crack. Strong winds later contributed to it falling out, police said. The damage was estimated at $507.

-Cited Angela E. Caswell, 6270 U.S. 63, with stealing under $500 by shoplifting several items at Houston Wal-Mart on March 18. The loss was estimated at about $94.

-Charged Billy Jack Hayes Jr., 18, of 8800 Highway E, with minor in possession of alcohol – by consumption on March 26.
