Revenue from a one-cent sales tax in Houston dropped about 3.5 percent from the same period a year ago, the revenue department said.
The tally was $59,528, which is down about $2,129 from the same period a year ago. For the year, $114,546 has been collected. That’s nearly unchanged from last year.
Two quarter-cent sales taxes earmarked for streets and sidewalks, as well as utility work, also declined. Each generated about $13,716, which was down $677 each from a year ago.
An eighth-cent sales tax for debt repayment on a fire truck totaled $6,858.
