The Texas County Spikers 14s recently won the Reeds Spring Tournament, which consisted of teams 15 years old. The Spikers, who are all 14 and under, defeated Team MG from Mountain Grove 25-23, 24-26, 15-6 in the championship game.
“It was a very long day, and the girls were very tired. I was proud of them for playing hard until the end and beating girls that are older and more experienced,” coach Rachel Rees said.
The Spikers went 7-1 in pool play to finish first. They then defeated Club Storm – consisting of players from the Willow Springs area – 27-25, 25-20 to reach the title game.
Team members are: Desiree Venable, Haley Kelley, Kayla Herndon, Sadie Ashworth, Kenzie Scheets, Demi Pittman, Amber Sillyman, Kayla Kelley, Alexa Ichord and Sarah Garrett.
