William Ray Sillyman, 89, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at Glenwood Healthcare Facility in Seymour.
He was born June 20, 1919, son of Lee Harrison and Oma Ethyl Greene Sillyman. He and Delilah May Johnson were married June 14, 1946 in Casper, Wyo.
He grew up in the Houston area and attended Houston Schools through the eighth grade.
He attended the Northside Baptist Church in Houston. He received Christ as his Lord and Savior in October 1995 and was active in his faith throughout the remaining part of his life. He grew up in the Assembly of God belief and played and sang at many revivals with his family.
He served in the Army during World War II and fought in the Pacific theater against the Japanese. He later worked for Standard Oil in Wyoming, Indiana, Missouri and Illinois before retiring from the renamed Amoco Oil in 1997.
He loved spending time with his family, playing Pitch, fishing and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Delilah Johnson Sillyman and Marjorie Elliot Sillyman; two sisters, Lillian Sillyman Binkley and Dorothy Sillyman Moynihan; and a brother, Eugene Sillyman.
Survivors include two children, William Lee Sillyman and Sally Ann George of Houston; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were Monday, March 2, at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial was in Allen Cemetery.
