Revenue from sales taxes collected by Texas County merchants showed an increase during the latest monthly distribution, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The total from a half-cent sales tax was $79,124, which was up $1,878 from the same period a year ago. After a rocky January and February, the county finished the quarter with $229,882, which is down $9,562 from 2008.

Merchants also collect two half-cent sales taxes for debt repayment on the county justice center and operational needs. Each totaled about $79,124, which was up about $1,900 on each.
