A group of sixth graders from Houston Middle School placed third among 14 schools at Saturday’s Mansfield Middle School Math Contest.
Kyle Laker and William Hutsell were second in the open division, and Elizabeth Harris and Hayley Walker finished second in multiplication/division. The team of Laker and Elisa Williamson was third in fractions/decimals.
For the seventh grade team, Kristian Bennett and Jennifer Thomas won the measurement competition and were second in word problems. The team of Ely Todd and Cheston Malam was second in metrics.
The HMS math teachers are Mandy Adey, Debbie James and Carla Mitchell.
