Houston senior Dustin Blackburn completed his high school career Tuesday by tying for 44th place at the MSHSAA state golf tournament in Sedalia.
Blackburn shot an opening-round 85 Monday and 83 on Tuesday to finish at 168.
It was the third straight state appearance for Blackburn, who finished 25th as a sophomore. He placed 37th last year.
Last Thursday, Blackburn shot a 78 to earn all-SCA honors. Blackburn was joined on the first team by Pete Leonard (76) and Josh Wendler (77) of Ava and Willow Springs’ Steven Mallow (78).
Ava won the team championship with a 315. The Bears were followed by Willow Springs (318), Mountain Grove (328), Thayer (340), Houston (361), Salem (392) and Mountain View (423). Cabool entered two golfers.
Earning second team all-SCA honors were: Aaron Harker, 80, Mtn. Grove; Tyler Williams, 81, Ava; Taylor James, 81, Willow Springs; Scott Woodrow, 81, Mtn. Grove; and Clayton Hodges, 81, Ava.
Honorable mention honors went to: Cole Johnson, 82, Willow Springs; Lance Schneider, 82, Thayer; Carter Courtney, 82, Mtn. Grove; Trevor Watterson, 83, Ava; Nick Allen, 85, Thayer; and Trevor Hale, 85, Mtn. Grove.
Behind Blackburn, other scores for Houston were: Tyler Dewitt, 90; Kerry Roberts, 96; Jacob Hall, 97; and Caleb Clem, 110.
