The City of Houston has been awarded about $147,000 for construction of sidewalks near the Houston Memorial Airport as part of federal stimulus funds.
The 100 percent grant will eventually link with the Village Trail that is under development in the city. The only cost locally will be for survey and engineering work.
Bids are expected to be released in July, and work is scheduled for completion this fall.
Of the $500,000 available, Houston received almost one third of the amount, with the balance going to the Missouri Department of Transportation for its projects. Houston was the only city or county to receive funds in District 9 of MoDOT, which is based in Willow Springs
