Texas County finished the spring turkey season with an increase over last year, the Missouri Department of Conservation announced Sunday night.
The total was 839, which was an increase of 38 from last year. Statewide, the harvest declined.
The tally in the county shows: adult gobblers, 669; bearded hens, eight; and juvenile birds, 162.
Statewide, 41,839 birds were killed. That’s down from 2008’s total of 43,416.
The top counties in the state were: Franklin, 916; Texas and St. Clair, 678, third.
