A Summersville woman was sentenced to seven years in prison Tuesday on charges that she caused the death of a passenger in a February 2008 crash north of Hartshorn.

Jennifer D. Morgan, 24, was ordered immediately to jail, where she will remain until she reports to prison in August, said Texas County Prosecutor Mike Anderson.

Circuit Judge Mary Sheffield retained jurisdiction over the case and will monitor Morgan’s progress.

She was charged earlier with involuntary manslaughter and assault in the death of Natalie M. Gaston, 28. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Morgan was intoxicated.
