“The Sound of Music” is the theme for this year’s Houston Alumni Association homecoming, the organization announced this week. The event, which is Oct. 2-3, features several activities.

Students performing in vocal music throughout the years will be honored. The search is underway to identify as many former students as possible and obtain their addresses. The high school yearbook, Pineymo, is often the only record maintained – and sometimes it is not complete. Anyone with information can call Paul Ice at 417-967-2745 or write him at 5934 Highway DD, Houston

The association has selected its scholarship winners and the recipient of the annual Collins Scholarship from among 16 who applied. Winners will be announced Saturday at graduation.

The interest from previous donations pays for the scholarships offered by the association and Oscar and Edith Collins.

The association is comprised of those who attended Houston School District – not limited to graduates.

Meetings are the fourth Monday of each month except May and December in the First Baptist Church library. More volunteers are needed.

Officers are Bonnie Harmon McElroy, class of 1954, president; Paul Ice, class of 1961, vice president; Kay Marsh Honeycutt, class of 1955, corresponding secretary; Karen Collins Cavanaugh, class of 1967, recording secretary; Sidney Ann Bridges, class of 1956, treasurer; and Doris Kimrey Montgomery, class of 1950, historian.
