The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a wind advisory for Texas County until 10 p.m.

Wind gusts up to 50 mph will occur for a few hours this evening across portions of southern Missouri. Sustained winds in some locations will range from 20 to 35 mph.

These high winds are occurring in response to a localized area of low pressure developing behind a band of showers and thunderstorms that moved across the Ozarks region earlier this afternoon.

Precautionary/preparedness actions…

A wind advisory means that sustained winds of 30 mph or gusts to 45 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult… especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution, the weather service said.
