Melanie Evans of Houston was recently named Texas County Memorial Hospital’s May employee of the month.
Evans is a licensed practice nurse in the medical surgical department at TCMH and has worked at the hospital for two years. Her supervisor, Krista Elliott, nominated her for the award.
“Melanie is willing to help anyone when needed,” Elliott said. “She often works extra shifts to help cover the needs of the department.”
Elliott noted that Evans is in school pursuing additional education to become a registered nurse. Elliott described Evans as having a great work ethic.
“I have never had a complaint from a patient when Melanie has taken care of them,” Elliott explained. “Melanie handles difficult situations well and provides excellent customer service.”
As employee of the month, Evans received a certificate honoring her achievement; a pin; $100 cash; a special parking place in the TCMH lot; one day of paid vacation; a membership in the TCMH Fitness Center; a $50 gift card; a gift certificate to D&L Florist; and CD of the month from KUNQ.
A reception is planned at the hospital in honor of Evans, who is eligible for the 2009 TCMH employee of the year award.
