Howard L. Fowler, 71, died Friday, June 19, 2009, following a brief illness.
He was born Oct. 17, 1937, in Pomona, Kan., son of Clarence E. and Bessie Laythem Fowler. He and Helen Atchison were married July 30, 2006, at Pentecostal Holiness Church in Licking.
He was a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church and served in the Army. He was a custodian several years for the Licking School District. He loved the outdoors, fishing and camping.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Fowler of the home; six children, Diane Fowler Collins of Piqua, Kan., Michelle Cromwell of Bartlesville, Okla., Roxanne Reeves and Kevin Fowler of Ottawa, Kan., Robert Harris of Otoka, Okla., and Myra Reed of Wellsville, Kan.; two stepchildren, Scott Shannon of St. Louis and Dawn Kuertois of Arnold; two brothers, Ronald Dean Fowler of Iola, Kan., and “Bud” Clarence Fowler of Ottawa, Kan.; two sisters, Wanda Hamby of Licking and Rheva Dean of Casper, Wyo.; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were Sunday, June 21, at Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Jerry Dodson officiating. Burial with full military honors was in Licking Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
