Lewis Esco Riley, 90, died Friday, June 12, 2009, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.

He was born Sept. 7, 1918, at Hartshorn, son of John Wesley and Bertha Leona Martin Riley. He and Mary Agnes Tyler were married Jan. 9, 1939.

He was a member and attended Valley Center Baptist Church as long as his health permitted.

He grew up along the Current River in Shannon County and loved to fish. He drove to rougher terrain in an old Jeep with his wife. He enjoyed talking on his CB radio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael; a daughter, Joyce; a grandson; and a brother, Oscar.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes of the home; two sons, Glenn of Hartshorn and Stephen of Angier, N.C.; two daughters, Mary Kirkman of Independence and Faye Hartman of Batesville, Miss.; six grandsons; seven granddaughters; 10 great-grandsons, five great-granddaughters; a great great-grandson; a great great-granddaughter; two brothers, Dredward Riley of Independence and John Riley of East Peoria, Ill.; and a host of relatives and friends.

Services were Tuesday, June 16, at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Steelman officiating. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery.
