A man who became lost in the Paddy Creek Wilderness Area in northwest Texas County was found safe early Monday morning, authorities said.

Law enforcement from the Texas County Sheriff’s Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol – along with the Roby Fire Department – searched from Sunday afternoon until early Monday morning when the man was found at 12:53 a.m.

The man, who was not from the area, used a cell phone to let authorities know he was lost, hot and didn’t have water. Several conversations occurred.

Volunteers mobilized to the area, walking through the area and sounding sirens and horns to alert the man that help was in the area.
