David Foster

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances that led to the death of a Houston teenager and recent high school graduate.

Tpr. Curtis Hubbs said David S. Foster, 18, was killed Saturday night in a single-car accident one mile east of Houston on Highway B. Hubbs said Foster’s 1977 Corvette ran off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and traveled off the left side of the roadway before striking a rock embankment nearly head-on. The vehicle then traveled back across the roadway and came to a rest on its right side.

The accident occurred at 11:50 p.m., and Foster was not wearing his seat belt, Hubbs said. He was pronounced dead at Texas County Memorial Hospital.

Foster graduated from Houston High School just two weeks earlier and had plans to play baseball at Westminster College. He was a four-year member of the baseball team and played football the past two seasons.

Foster is the son of Houston City Clerk Tonya Foster and her husband, Gene. Houston City Hall closed for two hours Wednesday during the funeral service.
