Alba Margaret Caton Rowden, 90, died Saturday, July 4, 2009, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 22, 1918, in Hutton Valley, daughter of William Franklin and Flossie Mae Walker Caton.

She was a member of Licking Church of Christ as long as her health permitted and enjoyed helping others. She was a homemaker and loved cooking, quilting, embroidering pillowcases and making her own clothes. She planted and harvested her own garden and worked with flowers.

She moved from Waynesville to Licking following the death of her husband, Glen, to be closer to her family. She moved into Licking Senior Citizen Housing near her sister, Elta, and later relocated to the Kansas City area. When her health failed, she moved into Licking Park Manor Care Center, where she lived the past seven years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a husband, Glen; three brothers, Alfred, Norman and Cub; and a sister; Elta Welch.

Survivors include a son, Bob Butcher of Clinton; a stepson, Bill Rowden of Waynesville; a step grandson; a step granddaughter; two step great-grandchildren; a brother, Hubert Caton of Licking; many nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces; and a special friend, Kathy Kofahl.

Services were Wednesday, July 8, at Licking Church of Christ with Larry Tubbs officiating. Burial was in Boone Creek Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
