Ozark Action Inc. is again hosting back-to-schools fair to supply low-income children with school supplies and other necessary services.

The Texas County fair is 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, inside the gymnasium at Houston Elementary School. It is for students in kindergarten through the eighth grade.

Ozark Action will host similar fairs in Howell, Wright, Oregon and Ozark counties.

“As you may be aware, schools today do not furnish all of the supplies children need. Imagine the embarrassment of these children in circumstances where the parents can’t afford the supplies they need,” said Sue Lawson, special projects coordinator. “Our hope is that helping these families bear the burden of the expense for the supplies will enhance the educational experience of the needy children. Your support can make this effort a success.”

Among the services offered will be health check-ups, including physicals, hearing, vision, dental, height and weight, Missouri Division of Family Services, library services, fire safety, conservation office information, electricity safety, handicapped services, nutrition, budgeting ideas and Parents as Teachers program info.

Families are encouraged to pre-register by calling Lawson or Teresa Arthur at 417-967-2036.

Persons interested in the cause can send a donation to Ozark Action, 16798 Oak Hill Dr. Ste. 400, Houston, Mo. 65483 and indicate at the bottom of the check that it is for the “Back to School Fair.” All donations are tax deductible and all funds received stay within that county.
