Revenue from sales taxes collected by county merchants dropped about 13 percent in the latest monthly reporting period, the Missouri Department of Revenue reported.
The county collects three half-cent sales taxes. Each totaled about $72,500, which was down about $10,700 each from the same period a year ago.
For the first six months of the year, each has contributed about $460,000 to the county’s bottom line. That’s down about $15,000 on each for the year – or about 3 percent.
