Houston’s Fit in Houston program was in Emmett Kelly Park on Thursday night. Children were treated to a marionette show.
The program has partnered with area businesses and agencies to address the chronic disease risk factors of physical inactivity, poor nutrition and tobacco use in a special fun action program. Individuals register and receive a Fit in Houston card, walk the Emmett Kelly and Brushy Creek trails, visit with neighbors, purchase a Fit in Houston T-shirt and enjoy refreshments provided by a local sponsor.
Persons of all ages are eligible to participate and enter drawings for a Wii and TV, iPod shuffle and Smartcycle.
The summer-long will culminate with a Fit in Houston ACHIEVE fair Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Fairgrounds, where prizes will be awarded and activities will be provided throughout the day.
