Voters in the City of Houston will be asked Tuesday to extend a quarter-cent sales tax that funds street and sidewalk improvements for another five years.

Residents in February 2005 last approved the renewal.

Most recently, funds were used from the tax to construct a major addition to Thomasville Road that extended south behind Landmark Bank and north to South Sam Houston Blvd.

The community is widely acclaimed as having some of the best maintained streets in the region.

A simple majority is required for passage.
