Obe C. Wofford, 83, of Licking, died Friday, July 17, 2009.
He was born Feb. 14, 1926, in Salem, son of Lonnie and Fannie Wofford. He and Betty Sue Wilson were married Aug. 21, 1948.
He spent three years in the Navy during WWII before returning to trade school in St. Louis to become a painter. He owned and operated Wofford Painting and Drywall for about 30 years. After retiring at age 54 and turning his business over to his nephew, O’Neil Wofford, he ran it for another 12 years.
He moved back to his Salem home, purchased several acres and ran a cattle farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Sue Wilson; a daughter, Dr. Pamela Bertani; three granddaughters; two sisters; and many friends.
Services were Tuesday, July 21, at Boone Creek Baptist Church with Dr. James Miller and Bro. Leroy Nixon officiating. Burial with full military honors was in Mt. Olive Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
