Texas County Memorial Hospital is hosting a blood drive from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday, July 17. Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will be collecting blood donations in the downstairs meeting room of the hospital.

The blood drive is part of the 14th annual CBCO ‘Salute a Veteran’ event. Blood donors will receive a patriotic event T-shirt that features a custom design with a patriotic theme.

Participants may also write a note of thanks or a greeting to a veteran. Donors need to bring the address of the person to which the card will be sent. CBCO will pay for postage and the distribution of that card.

TCMH receives 100 percent of its blood supply from CBCO. Blood collected by CBCO stays in the area to be utilized by Ozark communities, neighbors and families.

TCMH and 32 other hospitals in this area are served by the CBCO. Approximately 250 units of blood are needed each day. TCMH uses approximately 500 units of blood each year.

Eligible donors can be anyone 16 years old or older who weighs at least 110 pounds and have not given blood in the last 56 days. All donors must provide identification when registering to donate.

For more information about the blood drive contact Libby Waterson, education director at TCMH, at 417-967-1340 or 866-967-3311, ext. 340. For questions regarding donor eligibility, contact CBCO at 800-280-5337.
