ABOUT CABOOL: Be ready for a new offensive look from the Bulldogs Friday night. First-year coach Eric Sloan is making the transition from the Wing T under Vince McCrosky to a spread offense. Sloan hopes to improve on Cabool’s 9.5 points per game last season. …The Bulldogs lost 14 starters during the course of the season in 2008. They’ve already suffered a big one this year. Starting quarterback Nate Stoutenborough torn his ACL during the summer and last Friday had season-ending surgery. …The Tigers’ 12-0 victory last season was the first of four games Cabool was shut out.
TIGER TIDBITS: Houston hasn’t won consecutive games against Cabool since squeaking out 20-16 and 21-14 in 2004 and 2005, respectively. …The Tigers’ starting running backs, Justin Schmidt and Jacob Case, had a combined seven carries for minus-11 yards last year against Cabool. Houston attempted passes on 30 of its 45 offensive plays.
