George R. Beshears, 74, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at his home in Bucyrus.

He was born Dec. 19, 1934, in Frankford, son of Ruben and Zoleta Dailey Beshears. He and Marsha Nelson were married June 5, 1975.

He served with the Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired after 20 years of service. He later retired from H.D. Lee.

He was a member of the VFW in Houston and the Fleet Reserve. He loved to hunt and fish. He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Bertha Elledge, Lucille Shonhart and Lola Dee Cravens; and two brothers, Archie Beshears and Billy Joe Beshears.

Survivors include his wife, Martha; a son, George A. Beshears of Hannibal; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today (Thursday) at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will be in Grand View Burial Park.
