Senior Amber Honig had a season-high 10 kills and four blocks as the Houston Lady Tigers rallied past Licking for a 22-25, 25-10, 15-14 road victory Monday night.

Houston (5-3-1) coughed up a 10-point advantage in the opening set. But the Lady Tigers recovered with a strong finish.

“This was our best match so far this season,” Houston coach Debbie James said.

Freshman Alexa Ichord had a team-high 15 assists, and Sarah Pierce added 14. Erica Keeney had eight kills and four blocks. Haylee Kell had a team-best 14 digs.

Over the weekend, the Lady Tigers went 2-2-1 at the competitive Branson Tournament. Houston earned victories over Lockwood (25-13, 27-25) and Hurley (22-25, 26-24, 25-23) and tied Carl Junction (26-24, 26-27). The Lady Tigers lost to class-ranked Nixa (25-16, 25-13) in pool play and were defeated by Fair Grove (25-15, 25-22) in tournament action.

Honig had team-highs of 27 kills and nine blocks in the tournament. She also had six aces. Pierce led the Lady Tigers with 46 assists.

JUNIOR VARSITY: Freshman Demi Pittman had five kills, four aces and two blocks to lead the Lady Tigers past Licking 25-8, 12-25, 25-18 Monday night.

Amber Sillyman had a team-best eight assists for Houston (3-0). Kenzi Scheets added seven assists.
