Edna Margaret Oxley Yarnall, 69, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.

She was born Jan. 31, 1940, in Cabool, daughter of Johnny and Mildred Ellis Oxley. She and James “Sam” Yarnall were married June 1, 1959, in Miami, Okla.

She was known as “Edie” and grew up in Cabool and graduated Cabool High School in 1957.

She loved to sing and play the piano. In her earlier years, she sang and played with the Oxley sisters and also toured with the Harmoniers Quartet. She enjoyed cooking, dining, fishing and playing golf.

She lived in various places throughout her life. She taught English and had a weekly program on a Christian radio station in the Dominican Republic. She learned French while in Haiti, taught Spanish in Eagle Pass, Texas, and also spent time in Mexico, Guatemala and Nicaragua.

She was preceded in death by her father; an infant brother, Johnny Phillip Oxley; and an infant sister, Joyce June Oxley.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, J. Sam Yarnall; her mother, Mildred Oxley of Cabool; two sons, Kenton Yarnall of Rolla and Travis Yarnell of Houston; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Jeanet Yeargin of Nashville, Tenn., Carole Caffey of Springfield, Dorothy Stark of Cabool and Donnella Monrow of Alabama.

Services were Monday, Oct. 5, at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerry Dodson officiating. Burial was in Providence Cemetery.
